Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. The West Island has a lot of different communities. For those who haven't known about it may confuse it with an island that is west-facing. The West Island is frequently referred to as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was short. Brugel was raised in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. She was determined to be professional, however because of a huge expansion, she surpassed the dance partners she had. An article in the Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. Once I was bigger than the size of my male companion then I slowed down. Brugel was one of many former dancers who turned into acting. Her teacher from high school was what pushed her into the right direction. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the annual school production. She tried out and eventually got the lead of Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program, where she graduated in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Over the past 20 years that followed, Brugel has landed roles in over 60 shows on both small and large screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed the part as Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian on the season 1 actors of the series as well as appearing only on occasion, was the sole Canadian.
