Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British-American sitar player and music artist. She's the smallest woman and was the first person to receive the British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is an Indian young sitar singer. She is Ravi Shankar's student, and the daughter. Born in London in 1982. She began her life by hopping back and forth from London and New Delhi. Her debut concert was at New Delhi at the tender age of 13. Then she relocated in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha's career as a recorder and performer is impressive, despite her youth. She often joins her father on stage, which she's done for a number of years. The first album she released as a solo artist, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years following her debut solo album. Her stage career is very vast as she has appeared in all of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka isn't just a musician. In 2002, she wrote an autobiography titled Bapi The love of My Live this is an illustrated biography that gives a special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was an Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar's career continues to unfold and we are likely to see a lot from her in years to come. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent the majority of her early years in London and Delhi later relocating to California in the state where she attended high school. At the age of 9 She began studying music with her father. Her first performance with the Sitar was during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi just four years later. Accompanying her father as he toured the world Anoushka racked up a wealth of experience performing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and recording with George Harrison. It is the House of Commons Shield was awarded to her by the British Parliament as the most renowned Asian Arts musician. She is the only female and is the smallest recipient of this prize.
